How to plan a closet that fits everything
The trick to a closet is mixing the right proportions of hanging, shelving, and drawers for what you actually own, then fitting them along the walls without blocking the door. Draw your room to scale, run hanging sections and shelving towers along the walls, and drop in drawer towers and a shoe cubby where they reach.
In a walk-in, keep a clear path of at least 24–36 inches down the middle, and add a center island only if you can keep that path. The planner counts every section and shows a live cost range as you design.

How deep should closet shelves and rods be?
Hanging sections need about 24 inches of depth (14 inches for the unit plus body room); shelves are typically 12–16 inches deep. Double-hang two rods at about 42 inches each to roughly double shirt and pant capacity.
Can I open the plan in CAD software?
Yes — the DXF export writes standard AutoCAD R12 with layers for walls and fixtures, so it opens cleanly in LibreCAD, AutoCAD, and most CAD tools.
Does my plan get saved?
It autosaves in your browser and you can download a project file for a permanent copy. Nothing is uploaded to a server.
