SmarterSquares exists for a simple reason: most home advice is either trying to sell you something or assumes you've got unlimited budget. We wanted the opposite — practical tools and honest answers for real homes and real wallets.
Why we built this
Your home is probably your biggest expense and your most personal space — yet figuring out what it's worth, what to fix, or how to make it feel right usually means wading through sales pitches and vague listicles. We thought homeowners, renters, and future buyers all deserved better: clear numbers, real trade-offs, and tools that give you an actual answer instead of a lead-capture form.
So everything here is built around three questions people really ask: What's my home worth? Should I renovate? How do I make this space feel like mine? Those became our three guides — Home Value, Renovation, and Interior Design — each paired with free calculators.

Every calculator on this site is built on public, verifiable market data — local price-per-square-foot and typical home values from Realtor.com and Zillow research datasets covering roughly 29,000 U.S. ZIP codes, plus published national cost-vs-value renovation benchmarks. We refresh the data on a regular cycle, show our assumptions in plain language, and label every output as what it is: a directional estimate, not an appraisal.
How we research, source, fact-check, and update content is documented in our Editorial Policy. If you ever find a number that looks wrong, tell us — we'd rather correct it than defend it.
